Why is recorded data better than REAL-TIME?
Most REAL-TIME GPS tracking systems utilize satellites for the global positioning data and cellular service to provide a connection to the host system. Although the satellite coverage is usually adequate anywhere in the world, cellular coverage areas vary greatly and signals in poor coverage areas are constantly dropped. This creates “black holes” in your GPS tracking software.
V-Track service uses the reliable
satellite signals, but does not rely on cellular coverage, thus there are no
“black holes” in your tracking plots.
Each time a REAL-TIME system updates the host, it must
make a cellular phone call. Due to the cost of cell service, the system is
usually updated anywhere from every few minutes to hours in order to reduce
airtime. V-Track records GPS coordinates every 3
seconds, providing more accurate data.
Although satellite signals are free, cell service is not. You will need to pay a monthly fee for each unit installed. These charges can total over $89.00 per month, for each vehicle (even if you do not use the system) and that does not include the hosting fees charged by some companies. The average small company can spend over $15,000.00 each year to track a ten-vehicle fleet.
V-Track provides you with more
accurate data without ANY monthly fees. Pay when you need it, not when you
don’t.
REAL-TIME systems are generally installed in
vehicles with the driver’s knowledge. This creates a situation where the driver
is constantly trying to “beat” the system. It is common for this equipment to
turn up mysteriously broken or disabled. Consider the fact that the driver
needs only to place a magnet on the unit to completely disable it. Then remove
it before he returns. You are left wondering why your $10,000.00 system only
works when you use it, no one else. The V-Track system is usually installed covertly. Therefore the
driver is unaware until he or someone else is caught. This increases
productivity even when there is no unit in their vehicle.
